⚠️ Important: These are Limited Departmental Competitive Examinations (LDCE) open only to serving government employees of the participating cadres. General public cannot apply. All three examinations are conducted by SSC for the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
🎯 Vacancy Details – Category-Wise Breakdown
A. JSA/LDC Grade (CSCS Cadre, DoPT) – 149 Posts
*Category-wise vacancies shall be informed in due course. PwBD reservation as per vacancy position reported by Service/Cadre Controlling Authority.
B. SSA/UDC Grade (CSCS Cadre, DoPT) – 65 Posts
*Category-wise vacancies shall be informed in due course.
C. ASO/Assistant Grade – 341 Posts (CSS & MEA)
*PwBD breakup for CSS: 6-VH, 4-OH, 4-HH, 5-Others

✅ Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?
🎯 JSA/LDC Grade (CSCS, DoPT)
Crucial Date: 01 August 2025
- Any permanent or regularly appointed temporary Group 'C' employee with Grade Pay of ₹1,800
- Must have rendered not less than 3 years' regular service as Group 'C' employee with Grade Pay ₹1,800 as on 01.08.2025
- Group 'C' employees on deputation to ex-cadre post with approval of competent authority are eligible
- Employees appointed to ex-cadre post on transfer with lien in Group 'C' post are also eligible
🎯 SSA/UDC Grade (CSCS, DoPT)
Crucial Date: 01 August 2025
- Any regularly appointed Lower Division Clerk of the service
- Must have rendered not less than 5 years' approved and continuous service in Lower Division Grade as on 01.08.2025
- If appointed through Competitive/LDCE: Results announced not less than 5 years before crucial date + 4 years approved service in that grade
- Period of absence on Military duties may be counted (as per DoPT notification 12/3/93-CS.II dated 22.11.1995)
- LDCs on deputation with competent authority approval are eligible
- Does NOT apply to LDCs transferred to ex-cadre post without lien
🎯 ASO/Assistant Grade (CSS & MEA)
Crucial Date: 01 July 2025
For CSS (DoPT) – 318 Posts:
- Officers in Upper Division Grade of Central Secretariat Clerical Service
- Must have rendered not less than 6 years' approved service in the grade as on 01.07.2025
For MEA (Cadre Cell) – 23 Posts:
- Officers in Upper Division Clerk Grade of MEA Service
- Must have completed mandatory training programme(s) prescribed by MEA
- Must have rendered not less than 6 years' approved service in the grade as on 01.07.2025
⚠️ Disqualification: Candidates who resign, quit service, are terminated, or transferred to ex-cadre post without lien after applying are NOT eligible. Exception: Deputation with competent authority approval.

📚 Exam Pattern & Syllabus
A. JSA/LDC Grade – CBE (180 Marks)
📖 JSA/LDC Syllabus:
- Comprehension (English/Hindi) & General English: Simple composition and Applied Grammar
- General Knowledge: Current events, everyday observation, experience, and general information about India
- CSMOP: Simple questions from Chapter 5, 6, and 10 of latest CSMOP – Management of Dak Receipts, File Management System, Records Management
B. SSA/UDC Grade – CBE (200 Marks)
📖 SSA/UDC Syllabus:
- Comprehension (English/Hindi) & General English: Simple composition and Applied Grammar
- Parliamentary Procedure: Simple questions relating to sessions of Parliament and handling of Parliament questions
- General Knowledge: Current events, everyday observation, experience, and general information about India
- Noting/Drafting: Simple questions from Chapter 7, 8, and 9 of latest CSMOP – Guidelines on Noting, Communication, Forms Channels and Procedure, Guidelines on Drafting of Communications
C. ASO/Assistant Grade – CBE (300 Marks)
📝 Key Rules for All Exams:
- Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions only
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
- Examination language: English or Hindi (as opted), except General English section which must be attempted in English
- No Braille question paper for Visually Handicapped candidates
- Tentative Answer Keys published after exam; representations at ₹50/question (non-refundable)
- No re-evaluation/re-checking allowed at any stage
🔄 Selection Process
🥇 JSA/LDC Selection
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): 180 marks – Final selection based on aggregate performance
- Commission may fix minimum qualifying marks
- Names arranged in order of merit for Select List inclusion
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates recommended by relaxed standard where applicable
🥈 SSA/UDC Selection (Two-Part Process)
- Part-I – CBE: 200 marks. Candidates must qualify to proceed to Part-II
- Part-II – APAR Evaluation: 100 marks for service record evaluation
- Final Merit: Aggregate of Part-I (200) + Part-II (100) = 300 marks
- Commission fixes minimum qualifying marks for Part-I
🥉 ASO/Assistant Selection (Two-Part Process)
- Part-I – CBE: Paper-I (150) + Paper-II (150) = 300 marks
- Part-II – APAR Evaluation: 100 marks for service record evaluation
- Final Merit: Aggregate of Part-I (300) + Part-II (100) = 400 marks
- Commission fixes minimum qualifying marks for Paper-I and Paper-II individually
📋 Tie-Breaking Rules (All Posts)
If candidates secure equal aggregate marks, ties are resolved in this order:
- Marks in Comprehension & General English (JSA/LDC) / Paper-I (ASO)
- Marks in General Knowledge (JSA/LDC) / Paper-II (ASO)
- Marks in Parliamentary Procedure (SSA/UDC only)
- Date of birth – older candidate placed higher
- Alphabetical order of names
💰 Salary, Pay Scale & Allowances
🏠 Additional Allowances:
- Dearness Allowance (DA) – As per current rates
- House Rent Allowance (HRA) – Based on posting city (X/Y/Z category)
- Transport Allowance (TA) – As per 7th CPC
- Other Benefits: Medical, Pension (NPS), LTC, Leave Encashment, etc.

📝 How to Apply – Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: One Time Registration (OTR)
- Visit ssc.gov.in
- Click "Register Now" under Login or Register section
- Important: Old OTR from ssc.nic.in is NOT functional. Create fresh OTR on new website
- Opt for Aadhaar-Based Authentication (recommended)
- Fill Personal Details: Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, DOB (exactly as per 10th certificate)
- Verify Mobile Number and Email ID through OTP
- Complete registration within 14 days or data will be deleted
Step 2: Fill Online Application
- Login with Registration Number and Password
- Click "Apply" link under respective examination in "Live Exam" tab
- Columns S.No. 1-18 auto-filled from OTR (non-editable)
- Fill departmental details: Cadre, Joining Date, Length of Service
- Select examination centre (Delhi-NCR only)
- Indicate PwBD status and scribe requirement if applicable
Step 3: Upload Documents & Photo
- Live Photograph: Capture using webcam/smartphone as prompted
- Good light, plain background, camera at eye level
- Full frontal view, no cap/mask/spectacles
- Face fully inside red rectangular area
- NO pre-existing photographs allowed
- Signature: Scanned JPEG (10-20 KB), dimensions ~6.0 cm × 2.0 cm
- Upload required certificates (Service Book, Disability Certificate if applicable)
Step 4: Preview & Submit
- Preview all details carefully before submission
- Click "I Agree" checkbox and fill captcha
- Submit application before 16 July 2026 (11:00 PM)
- Take printout of submitted application
Step 5: Forward Through Department
- Forward printed application with documents through Head of Department/Head of Office
- Send to: The Regional Director, SSC (Northern Region), Block No. 12, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003
- Deadline: 23 July 2026 (1800 hrs) for general | 30 July 2026 (1800 hrs) for Abroad/Islands
- Must include: Department certificate confirming "Application submitted on or before closing date"
❌ Common Mistakes to Avoid:
- Using old OTR from ssc.nic.in – create fresh OTR on ssc.gov.in
- Not forwarding hard copy through HoD/HoO – application will be rejected
- Uploading pre-existing photo instead of live capture
- Miniature or blurred signatures (must occupy 80% of box)
- Submitting multiple applications
- Mismatch in personal details with Matriculation certificate
