Eligibility Criteria
1 Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)
18 to 33 Years
18 to 30 Years
Age Relaxation: As per Government of India rules for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen)
2 Educational Qualification
Matriculation/SSLC + ITI in relevant trade OR Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Instrumentation)
Matriculation/SSLC + ITI in relevant trade OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

Salary & Pay Structure
Pay Structure as per 7th CPC
Technician Grade-I Signal (Level-5)
- Pay Matrix: Level-5 (Rs.29,200 - Rs.92,300)
- Initial Basic Pay: Rs.29,200/- per month
- Grade Pay: Included in Level-5
Technician Grade-III (Level-2)
- Pay Matrix: Level-2 (Rs.19,900 - Rs.63,200)
- Initial Basic Pay: Rs.19,900/- per month
- Grade Pay: Included in Level-2
Additional Allowances:
- Dearness Allowance (DA): As per Central Govt. rates (Currently ~50% of Basic Pay)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): 8%-24% based on city classification (X/Y/Z cities)
- Transport Allowance (TA): As per Railway rules
- Night Duty Allowance: For shift duties
- Other Benefits: Medical facilities, Leave Travel Concession, Pension/NPS, Railway concessions
💡 Approximate In-Hand Salary: Grade-I Signal: Rs.40,000-50,000 | Grade-III: Rs.30,000-38,000 (depending on posting location and allowances)
Selection Process
The selection process for RRB Technician posts typically includes the following stages:
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
Objective type MCQs covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness on Current Affairs
Stage 2: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Applicable for certain technician posts to assess aptitude and suitability for the role
Stage 3: Document Verification
Verification of original certificates, caste/category certificates, educational qualifications, and other documents
Stage 4: Medical Examination
Candidates must meet the prescribed medical standards (B-1 for Grade-I Signal and as per CEN for Grade-III)
