Selection Process - SSC CGL 2026

The selection process for SSC CGL 2026 consists of two Computer-Based Tiers followed by document verification. Marks are normalized if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts.

Step 1: Tier-I - Computer Based Examination (CBE)
August - September 2026  |  100 Questions | 200 Marks | 1 Hour
Objective MCQs covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension (25 questions รƒ— 2 marks each). Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer. Sectional timer: 15 minutes per section.
Step 2: Tier-II - Computer Based Examination (CBE)
December 2026  |  Paper-I (Compulsory) + Paper-II/III (for specific posts)
Paper-I (All posts) - 4 Sections: Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & GI, English Language & Comprehension + General Awareness, Computer Knowledge Test (qualifying), and Data Entry Speed Test (qualifying). Negative marking: 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I-III.
Paper-II - Only for JSO & Statistical Investigator Grade-II (100 questions - Statistics).
Paper-III - Only for AAO/Assistant Accounts Officer (100 questions - Finance & Economics).
Step 3: Document Verification (DV) + Medical Test
Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification by the respective User Departments. Posts like CBI Sub-Inspector, NCB Inspector, CBIC Inspector also require Physical Standard Tests (PST) and Medical Standards as notified in Annexures XV and XVI of the official notification.
Step 4: Final Merit & Post Allotment
Final allotment is based on merit-cum-preferences indicated by candidates. Once a post is allotted, no change will be made for non-fulfilment of medical/physical/educational standards. The decision is final.

One-Time Registration (OTR)

Visit ssc.gov.in and complete the One-Time Registration. Candidates with old OTR from ssc.nic.in must register afresh on the new website. Aadhaar-based authentication is strongly recommended.

Fill Online Application Form

Log in using OTR credentials. Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, category, and exam centre preference. The form captures live photo via camera - no pre-existing photo needed.

Pay Application Fee

Pay Rs.100 online via UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Card by 23 June 2026. SC/ST/PwBD/Women/ESM candidates are exempt. Verify payment status in candidate login before deadline.

Submit & Take Printout

Submit the application before 22 June 2026 (23:00 hrs). Download and save the printout of the submitted application form for future reference and document verification.

Correction Window (If Needed)

Made a mistake? Use the Correction Window from 29 June - 1 July 2026. You can re-submit twice (Rs.200 for 1st, Rs.500 for 2nd attempt). All categories must pay correction charges.

Admit cards will be available on ssc.gov.in before the exam. Carry a valid photo ID to the examination centre. Aadhaar-authenticated candidates need not carry a separate photo ID or photograph.
