Eligibility- Educational Qualifications
Candidates must hold the required qualification for the post they are applying for. Post-wise qualification requirements are as follows:
Matriculation (10th Pass) + ITI Certificate in the relevant trade (Draughtsman Civil / Mechanical) from a recognised institution. Proficiency in technical drawing is essential.
Matriculation (10th Pass) + Hindi typing speed of 30 WPM minimum. Knowledge of Hindi shorthand may be an added advantage. Must be proficient in Hindi language.
Matriculation (10th Pass) + ITI Certificate in any trade from a Government-recognised Industrial Training Institute. Knowledge of stores/inventory procedures is desirable.
Matriculation (10th Pass) + ITI Certificate in Electronics / Radio / Telecommunication trade or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Matriculation (10th Pass) + ITI Certificate in Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Tractor or equivalent. Possession of Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Driving Licence is required. Practical knowledge of operating earth-moving equipment is essential.
Matriculation (10th Pass) + ITI Certificate in Electrician trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute. Knowledge of electrical installations, wiring, and repairs is necessary.

Selection Process
The BRO GREF selection process consists of multiple stages. Every stage is eliminatory - candidates must clear each round to proceed to the next.
1-mile run within prescribed time. Qualifying in nature. Tests physical fitness for field postings.
Objective/subjective questions on trade knowledge, General Awareness, Mathematics, and English/Hindi.
Hands-on trade test for posts like Electrician, OEM, Draughtsman, and Typing Test for Hindi Typist.
Conducted by BRO medical officers. Must meet GREF physical & medical fitness standards.
Original certificates for age, qualification, category, ITI, and HMV licence (for OEM) will be verified.
Salary & Pay Scale (7th Pay Commission)
Additional Allowances & Benefits:
Total in-hand salary (including all allowances for border area postings) can range from approximately Rs.35,000- Rs.55,000+ per month depending on posting location and category.
