Age Limit - NCL Apprentice 2026

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Maximum Age: 26 Years

Age Cut-off Date: 01 June 2026 (Candidates born between 01/06/2000 and 01/06/2008 are eligible)

Age Relaxation:

  • SC / ST candidates: Upper age relaxed by 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: Upper age relaxed by 3 years
  • PwBD candidates: Age relaxation up to 10 years (15 years for SC/ST-PwBD; 13 years for OBC-NCL-PwBD)

Eligibility Criteria & Required Qualifications

Candidates must fulfil ALL of the following conditions:

  1. Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible.
  2. State Restriction: Qualifying degree/diploma/ITI must be from a recognized institute/university that is functional and operational in either Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh only.
  3. Recognition: Qualifications must be recognized by AICTE / UGC / BTE / NCVT / SCVT or any relevant State/Central authority.
  4. Mode of Study: Only full-time regular courses are accepted. Part-time / Correspondence / Distance Learning qualifications are not eligible.
  5. Year of Passing: Candidates must have passed their qualifying degree/diploma/ITI after June 2022 (i.e., not before June 2022).
  6. Higher Qualification: Candidates with qualifications higher than the prescribed for the applied post are NOT eligible.
  7. Prior Apprenticeship / Job Experience: Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship earlier OR have job experience of 1 year or more are summarily ineligible.
Note on Percentage Calculation: Rounding off is NOT allowed. For example, 49.99% will be treated as less than 50%. Candidates with CGPA/GPA must convert to percentage as per their university norms and mention it up to two decimal points. Obtain a conversion certificate from your university/institute.

No Application Fee for any category (General / SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwBD). This is an apprenticeship recruitment — no examination fee is charged.

Stipend is paid based on monthly attendance. Stipend will be credited directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the trainee as per the signed apprenticeship contract.

Selection Process - NCL Apprentice 2026

There is no written examination. Selection is entirely merit-based on qualifying marks:

Graduate & Diploma

Merit based on marks scored in qualifying Graduation/Diploma examination. Candidates ranked in decreasing order of marks (highest to lowest).

ITI Trade

Merit based on the average of Matriculation (10th) percentage + NTC/STC Trade Certificate percentage. Ranked in decreasing order.

Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates have equal scores, preference goes to the older candidate (earlier DOB). If still tied, alphabetical order of names (English/Roman script) is used.

Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear with all original documents. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of candidature. No TA/DA is paid for attending verification.

Medical Fitness: Final joining is subject to passing a medical examination as per Mines Rules 1955. A fitness certificate from a government hospital medical officer (rank: Assistant Civil Surgeon or above) is mandatory. The certificate must be issued after the notification date.


How to Apply - Step-by-Step Guide

Register on the Portal: Graduate/Diploma applicants register on NATS portal - https://nats.education.gov.in. Trade (ITI) applicants register on NAPS portal - https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.

Get Enrollment ID: After successful registration, an Enrollment/Registration ID will be generated. Note it down carefully.

Fill the Online Application: Apply for only one post. Fill in NATS/NAPS registration number, DOB, academic details, address, marks, percentage, etc. Multiple applications = disqualification.

Upload Documents: Upload scanned colour photograph and black-ink signature in the format/size specified on the portal.

Submit & Save: Verify all details carefully — DOB, category, marks cannot be changed after submission. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference. Last date: 15 June 2026.

Key Terms & Conditions to Know

  • No permanent employment: Apprenticeship does NOT lead to any job/absorption in NCL. No employment claim will be entertained.
  • Leave entitlement: 11 days Casual Leave + 15 days Medical Leave per year.
  • Working hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Accident coverage: Covered under the Workmen Compensation Act, 1923.
  • No accommodation: NCL will not provide housing, food, or transport during the training period.
  • Jurisdiction: All disputes are subject to courts/tribunals in Singrauli, MP only.
  • Contract termination: The apprenticeship contract automatically ends after one year. Premature termination is possible through the Apprenticeship Adviser.
