Age Limit - Indian Army TES-56

Age Requirement as on 01 January 2027

16½ -19½ Years

Born not earlier than 02 July 2007 and not later than 01 January 2011

Important: Candidates must be unmarried at the time of application and must undertake not to marry until they complete their full training period.

No Age Relaxation is provided under TES entry for any category (SC/ST/OBC etc.).

Selection Process

The TES-56 selection is a multi-stage process. No written exam is conducted by the Army — shortlisting is based on JEE Mains 2026 score and PCM marks.

Stage 1: Shortlisting (Merit Based)

Candidates are shortlisted based on a combined merit list of JEE Mains 2026 score and Class 12 PCM percentage. The cut-off is published by the Integrated HQ of MoD. No separate written exam is held. Shortlisted candidates are allotted an SSB Centre.

Stage 2: SSB Interview (5 Days)

The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview is the heart of the selection process. It is a 5-day comprehensive assessment conducted at allotted SSB Centres:

Day 1: Screening Test (PPDT, OIR)
Days 2-4: Psychological Tests, GTO & Personal Interview
Day 5: Conference Board

SSB Centre locations: Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, Kapurthala & others.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

Candidates recommended by SSB undergo a detailed medical examination at designated Military Hospitals to verify fitness as per Indian Army medical standards.

Stage 4: Final Merit List & Allotment

A final merit list is prepared based on SSB marks and medical fitness. Selected candidates are allotted one of the three Cadet Training Wings (CTWs). Allotment is made as per merit and candidate preference.

Selected candidates undergo a rigorous 4-5 year training programme split into two phases:

Phase 1 -3 Years

Integrated Military & Engineering Training

At CTW -CME Pune / MCTE Mhow / MCEME Secunderabad

Phase 2 -1 Year

Pre-Commission Training

At Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun or designated PCTA

Degree awarded on completion: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) -fully accredited technical degree along with Permanent Commission in the Indian Army as a Lieutenant.
