Eligibility - Educational Qualifications

Posts are categorized into three education levels. Essential Qualifications (EQs) are assessed as on the closing date (04 May 2026). The three broad levels are:

Important Notes on Qualifications:
  • Each post category has specific EQs mentioned in Annexure-III of the notification. Verify before applying.
  • Equivalence of qualifications is NOT allowed unless specifically mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of the post.
  • Degrees through Open & Distance Learning are valid only if approved by UGC and the Distance Education Bureau for the relevant period.
  • Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Architecture programmes through ODL mode are NOT permitted.
  • Experience gained during internships or as part of an educational qualification will NOT be counted.
  • For language-specific posts, the applicant must have studied that language up to Matriculation level or it must be their mother tongue.

Nationality / Citizenship

The candidate must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, OR
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, OR
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 intending to permanently settle, OR
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries, or Vietnam with intent to permanently settle in India.

Candidates under categories (b)-(d) above must obtain an eligibility certificate from the Government of India before receiving an appointment offer.

Selection Process

1
Stage 1: Computer Based Examination (CBE)
Objective Type MCQ exam in English/Hindi. Three separate exams for Matriculation, 10+2, and Graduation levels. Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for PwBD with scribe).

Stage 2: Document Upload / Scrutiny
Candidates shortlisted based on CBE score (ratio 1:30 for ≤5 vacancies; 1:15 for >5 vacancies, minimum 150) upload self-attested supporting documents online.

Stage 3: Skill Test (where applicable)
Typing Test / Data Entry / Computer Proficiency Test (qualifying nature) conducted by concerned User Departments, where prescribed.

Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)
Conducted by the User Department. Candidates must present original certificates. Successful candidates are nominated to the concerned Ministry/Department.

Key Exam Notes:
  • Negative marking: 0.50 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Duration: 60 minutes (15-minute sectional timer per part); 80 minutes for PwBD candidates with scribe.

Tie-Breaking Rules

In case of a tie, the following criteria are applied in order: (1) Total normalized CBE marks → (2) Marks in Part-A → (3) Part-B → (4) Part-C → (5) Date of Birth (older candidate gets priority) → (6) Alphabetical order of names.

Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
Visit ssc.gov.in → Click "Login or Register" → Fill personal details including Aadhaar, name, DOB, parents' names (exactly as in 10th certificate), mobile, and email. Authenticate via Aadhaar for best experience. Complete OTR within 14 days.

Login & Fill Application Form
Login with your OTR Registration Number and password. Click "Apply" under Phase-XIV/2026/Selection Posts. Select Region and Post Code. Confirm EQ, experience details, age relaxation if applicable, and medium of exam.

Upload Photo & Signature
Capture a live photo via webcam/mobile (no cap, no spectacles, plain background, good lighting). Upload scanned signature in JPEG (10-20 KB, 6cm 2cm). Aadhaar-authenticated candidates are exempt from photo rejection issues.

Correct Mistakes (if any) - 11-13 May 2026
Use the Correction Window to fix errors. Pay Rs.200 for the 1st correction and Rs.500 for the 2nd correction. No corrections allowed beyond this window. Centre preference frozen from first application.

In addition to Basic Pay, employees receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules. All posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) - selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India.

Exam Centres

Candidates can choose up to 3 exam centre preferences from anywhere in India. Important points:

  • Centre preference selected in the first application is frozen for all subsequent applications across regions, irrespective of post level.
  • If centre preference is changed during the Correction Window, it applies to all post applications automatically.
  • SSC reserves the right to add, cancel, or divert candidates to other centres.

Document Verification (DV)

Admit Card & Exam Day Instructions

  • Admit Cards are available for download on ssc.gov.in 2 to 3 days before the exam. No admit cards are sent by post.
  • Candidates who completed Aadhaar-based authentication do not need to carry additional documents to the exam.
  • Others must report 2 hours early with: Printed Admit Card + 2 recent passport-size photographs + Original valid photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN/Voter ID/Passport/Driving License, etc.).
  • Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
  • Appearance at the exam must match the photograph in the application form.

⚠️ Warning: Consequences of Malpractice
