👤 Who Can Apply — Eligibility Criteria

  • Only serving regular/permanent employees of erstwhile South Central Railway, drawing pay on substantive basis (excluding MACP/Ad-hoc promotion), working in all Departments/Branches of Hd.Qrs./Divisions/Workshops/Units, are eligible.
  • Employees in grade pay/levels lower than the grade pay of the notified posts are eligible.
  • Employees in the same grade pay/level as the notified posts are NOT eligible (Authority: RBE No.72/2017 dated 24.07.2017).
  • Candidates cannot apply for the same post on which they are presently working.
  • RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistants, and Catering Supervisors are not eligible to apply under the GDCE scheme.
  • Applicants must remain on the rolls of SCR Zone till completion of the selection process — inter-zonal transfer during the process leads to summary rejection.
  • Candidates awaiting results of their minimum qualifying examination at the time of applying are not eligible.

🎓 Educational Qualification

Post Medical Classification Minimum Qualification
Nursing Superintendent C1 Certificate as Registered Nurse and Midwife having passed a 3-year course in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized School of Nursing, OR other institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, OR B.Sc. Nursing. (Concessions apply for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives/Midwives/B-grade Nurses as per Indian Nursing Council norms.)
Health & Malaria Inspector Gr.II C1 B.Sc. with Chemistry as Main/Optional subject, PLUS either (a) One-year Diploma of Health/Sanitary Inspector, OR (b) One-year National Trade Certificate (NTC) in Health Sanitary Inspector awarded by NCVT, Ministry of Labour & Employment, GOI.
CCTC B2 12th (+2 Stage) or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The 50% criterion is relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen and candidates with qualifications higher than 12th.

Employees must possess the requisite educational qualification on the closing date of application, and it must be endorsed in their Service Record.

💰 Application Fee

This is a Departmental (GDCE) selection open only to serving SCR employees — no application fee is prescribed in the notification. Applicants must, however, have a valid personal e-mail ID and mobile number maintained throughout the selection process.

📝 Selection Process

  1. Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) — Objective Multiple Choice Type, in English/Hindi/Telugu/Kannada/Tamil/Marathi/Urdu.
  2. Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question is deducted for every wrong answer.
  3. Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR – 40%, OBC – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25% (relaxable by 2% for PwBD candidates if there's a shortage against reserved vacancies).
  4. Merit & Tie-breaking: If two or more candidates score equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher; if age is also the same, alphabetical order (A–Z) of name is used.
  5. Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to the number of notified vacancies are called for DV based on merit and post options, followed by Medical Examination.
  6. Final empanelment is subject to fitness in the prescribed Medical Classification, and verification of caste/educational certificates and antecedents.

🏆 Community Certificate Requirements

  • SC/ST candidates must upload the Community Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure I); otherwise their reservation claim will not be entertained and the application will be considered under UR category.
  • OBC candidates must upload the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure II), issued on or after 01 April 2026 but not later than the closing date of the online application.
  • During Document Verification, OBC candidates must also submit a self-declaration (Annexure IIA) confirming they do not belong to the creamy layer as on the closing date. Failure to do so will result in the claim being considered under UR category.
  • OBCs listed only in a State list but not in the Central OBC list are not eligible to claim reservation.

Selected employees will be subjected to initial training of the same duration prescribed for directly recruited employees through RRBs, with training-period payment regulated as per extant rules.

  • Employees currently in the same grade pay/level as the notified post are not eligible; only those in a lower level can apply.
  • No request for postponement of CBT, DV, or change of venue/date/shift will be entertained under any circumstances — there is also no supplementary exam for absentees.
