Note: Only candidates belonging to trades like Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Turner, Carpenter, Plumber, Painter, Mechanic Diesel, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Draughtsman, Surveyor, Secretarial Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) and many more (as per NCVT/SCVT approved ITI trades) are eligible. 🎂 Eligibility – Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 15 years
  • Maximum Age: 24 years (as on closing date, i.e., 19-08-2026)

🎓 Eligibility – Educational Qualification

For all trades (except Medical Laboratory Technician):

  • Passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
  • Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC/ITI) in the notified trade issued by NCVT, OR a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
  • 50% minimum marks requirement in Matriculation is relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) & (Radiology) only:

  • Passed 12th Class (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50% aggregate marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.

Important: Only completion of the ITI course is not sufficient — candidates must be in possession of their ITI pass certificate/NTC/STC as on the date of this notification.

Fee is to be paid online through the payment gateway link on NFR's website after completing the application form. Application modification (correction) after submission is allowed on payment of ₹50/- per occasion, though registration details cannot be modified.

🏆 Reservation Details

  • EWS: 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section candidates
  • PwBD: 4% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities
  • Ex-Servicemen (ExSM): 10% horizontal reservation, priority given to children of deceased/disabled ex-servicemen, children of ex-servicemen, children of serving Jawans/Officers, and then Ex-Servicemen themselves

📝 Selection Process

  1. Merit List Preparation: Based on percentage of marks in Matriculation (all subjects, min 50% aggregate) + ITI trade marks. Final merit is the average of Matriculation and ITI percentages.
  2. For Medical Lab Technician (Pathology/Radiology): Merit based on Matriculation % + 12th Science (PCB) %.
  3. Tie-Breaker: Older candidate ranked higher; if DOB also same, candidate who passed matriculation earlier is preferred.
  4. Shortlisting: Merit lists prepared unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise. Candidates shortlisted up to 1.5 times the notified vacancies are called for Document Verification (DV).
  5. Document Verification (DV): Conducted by respective Division/Workshop/Unit; original testimonials and medical certificate must be produced.
  6. Medical Fitness: A medical certificate signed by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gazetted, not below Assistant Surgeon rank) is mandatory before DV.

Each candidate is considered for only one combination of Unit-Department-Trade, based on merit and preference order given in the application. Once selected against a higher preference, all lower preferences are automatically cancelled.

Stipend rates are as per Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship G.S.R. 610(E) dated 03.09.2025, effective 11.09.2025. Rates are subject to revision. No hostel accommodation is provided — apprentices must arrange their own stay.

⏳ Training Period

Training period is generally 1 Year for most trades. However:

  • Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology): 1 Year 3 Months
  • Mechanic Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance (Industrial Automation): 6 Months

⚠️ Important Points to Note

  • Apprenticeship training does not guarantee future employment in Railway services.
  • However, 20% of vacancies in erstwhile Group D (Level-1) posts are filled by giving preference to Course Completed Act Apprentices (holding NCVT certificates), subject to suitability and minimum qualifying marks in the written exam.
  • No daily allowance, conveyance, or travelling allowance is paid for attending Document Verification.
  • Candidates should beware of touts/agents promising selection — report such incidents to SDGM/NFR and local police.
  • Certificates in languages other than English/Hindi must have an attested translation.
  • If the selected candidate is a minor, the guardian must sign the Contract of Apprenticeship.
