Note: Candidates can select only ONE state of preference while applying. The Apprentice will be placed for training in the preferred state (option chosen), and may be assigned any training location within that state as per requirement/availability.

🎓 Eligibility – Educational Qualification

| Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation | Engineering Graduation in the respective discipline with 60% aggregate marks (all semesters/years) for UR/OBC-NC candidates, and 50% for SC/ST/PwBD (VH/HH/OH/MD) candidates. |
- Only candidates registered and approved on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) portal and by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) will be considered.
- Engineering Graduates who have completed their Engineering Graduation on or after 01-09-2023 are eligible. Candidates who completed engineering prior to 01-09-2023 are NOT eligible.
- All qualifications must be recognized by the Board of Technical Education/UGC/AICTE or equivalent authority.
- Candidates who have got work experience of 1 year or more are NOT eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have been previously engaged as an Apprentice or are undergoing apprenticeship training elsewhere with an existing contract under the Apprentices Act, 1961 (on NATS Portal) are NOT eligible to apply.
Percentage Calculation: Where CGPA/GPA or letter grade is awarded, the equivalent percentage as per University/Institute norms must be indicated, along with a supporting certificate required at document verification. Where conversion isn't available, percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained across all semesters/years — fractions are ignored (e.g., 49.99% is treated as less than 50%).

⏳ Tenure of Engagement
The engagement as Apprentice Trainee for Engineering Graduates will be for a period of ONE YEAR only, governed by the Apprentices Act 1961 / Apprentices Amendment Act, 1973 and Rules thereof.
💵 Application Fee
No application fee has been mentioned in this notification. Candidates should verify the fee/payment details, if any, at the time of registration on the HPCL Apprentice Portal.
📝 Selection Methodology
- Merit Screening: Applications are screened based on merit percentage (marks) as per eligibility criteria and the qualification applicable to the respective trade and number of training slots notified.
- Rejection of Incomplete Applications: Incomplete or ineligible applications will be summarily rejected without any intimation.
- Document Verification: Candidates are called for verification of documents/certificates in order of merit, in a ratio of 1:5 with respect to the training slots notified/available. Shortlisted candidates are informed via registered email. No TA/DA is paid for attending document verification.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on candidates who reported for document verification and were found suitable as per eligibility.
- Engagement: Selected candidates are engaged in merit order upon accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS website, submission of a medical certificate in prescribed format, and police verification.

- Once registered, candidates will receive login credentials on their registered email ID from the HPCL Apprentice Team
- Sign in to the HPCL Apprentices Application Link using the email ID and password received
- Note: Candidates are allowed to fill only ONE application — multiple applications will be rejected
- Read all instructions carefully on each part of the Application Form
- Select the Engineering Branch from the dropdown as per the branches mentioned in the advertisement
- Fill in Personal Details (fields marked * are mandatory) and click "Validate your details"
- Fill Contact Details — correspondence and permanent address along with contact number
- Select State of Training from the dropdown (only ONE state preference allowed)
- Click "Validate your details" and "Save & Next" to move to Qualification Details
- Upload recent Passport-sized Photograph and Signature
- Recheck all details under Preview and edit if needed
- Read the declaration carefully, check the declaration boxes, and click Final Submit
- After submission, candidates will receive a confirmation email with their HPCL Application Number
Important: Candidates are NOT required to submit a hard copy of the application form. Details filled in the online application will be considered final — no changes will be entertained later, including category selection.

⚠️ Important Points to Note
- HPCL does not give any commitment/assurance of permanent or temporary employment on successful completion of the Apprenticeship period.
- Apprentices who successfully complete their apprenticeship will be accorded relaxation/preference in future recruitment norms — in age (to the extent of training period undergone, not exceeding 1 year) and 5% additional marks in CBT for shortlisting in subsequent selection stages. However, mere completion of training does not confer any right of recruitment.
- Candidates with an existing apprenticeship contract with any other organization on the NATS Portal are not eligible; if discovered after joining, the candidature will be cancelled and training terminated without payment of stipend.
- Furnishing wrong/false information will lead to disqualification at any stage, including post-engagement.
- Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature.
- OBC-NC candidates belonging to the "Creamy Layer" are not entitled to OBC concessions and must indicate their category as Unreserved (UR).
- The OBC claim will be determined in relation to the State to which the candidate's father originally belongs.
- All communication will be sent via email/registered mobile number — no hard copies will be sent by HPCL.
- HPCL reserves the right to raise minimum eligibility standards, modify the selection process, and increase/decrease/cancel/restrict the number of vacancies without prior notice.
