🎓 Eligibility Criteria – Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfil ONE of the following two qualification routes:

Route I

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council (INC) / State Nursing Council recognized Institute or University, OR B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an INC/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/University
  • Registered as Nurse & Midwife with State / Indian Nursing Council

Route II

  • Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from an INC/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/Board/Council
  • Registered as Nurse & Midwife with State/Indian Nursing Council
  • Two years' experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital, acquired after obtaining the essential qualification (i.e., after completing residency, declaration of result, and Council registration)

All qualifications, registration, and experience (wherever applicable) must be completed on or before the closing date of online application (13.08.2026).

📝 NORCET 11 Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Selection is done through a two-stage Computer Based Test (CBT):

Stage I: NORCET Preliminary (Qualifying only)

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • 100 MCQs, 100 Marks (20 questions – General Knowledge & Aptitude; 80 questions – Nursing subject syllabus)
  • Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer
  • Exam divided into 5 sections of 18 minutes each (20 questions per section); sections activate sequentially and cannot be revisited
  • Qualifying percentile: 50% (UR/EWS), 45% (OBC), 40% (SC/ST); additional 5 percentile relaxation for PWBD candidates in each category
  • Candidates qualifying up to 5 times the number of seats per category will be called for Stage II
  • Stage I marks are NOT used for final merit (used only as a tie-breaker)

Stage II: NORCET Main (Final Merit)

  • Duration: 180 minutes
  • 160 MCQs, 160 Marks — full nursing syllabus with case scenario-based questions testing clinical/nursing skill competency
  • Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer
  • Exam divided into 4 sections of 45 minutes each (40 questions per section), sequential activation
  • Qualifying percentage: 50% (UR/EWS), 45% (OBC), 40% (SC/ST); additional 5% relaxation for PWBD candidates
  • Final Merit List is prepared based on Stage II (Main) marks only

Tie-Breaking Criteria (in order)

  1. Fewer wrong answers/negative marks in Stage II
  2. Higher marks in Stage I Preliminary
  3. Fewer wrong answers in Stage I Preliminary
  4. Older candidate (by date of birth) ranked higher
  5. Alphabetical order of candidate's name, then father's name, then mother's name

📌 Choice Filling & Seat Allocation

  • Choices/preferences of participating AIIMS/Institutes will be invited later from qualified candidates.
  • Only ONE round of seat allocation will be conducted.
  • Seats are allocated strictly on merit as per choices filled by the candidate.
  • A candidate allocated a seat is mandatorily required to join — failure to join leads to cancellation of candidature.
  • There is no waiting list, since NORCET is conducted twice a year.

  1. Visit the official AIIMS Examination website: www.aiimsexams.ac.in
  2. Register using OTR (One Time Registration) — if you have applied earlier, use your existing OTR ID (a new/different ID will lead to rejection).
  3. Fill in personal, educational, and category details carefully — corrections after submission are not permitted.
  4. Upload photograph, signature, and thumb impression as per the prescribed image guidelines.
  5. Upload NOC (if applicable) and relevant category/disability certificates.
  6. Pay the prescribed application fee via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.

💰 Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed as Nursing Officer at Level 07 of the Pay Matrix (pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9300–34800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4600/-), under Group-B category. In addition, candidates will receive usual allowances admissible to Central Government employees of similar status, based on the city/location of posting.
