Note: SECL management reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel seats at any level without prior notice. The 900 seats in Technician Mining Engineering is the largest single category.
Age Limit
Minimum Age
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age on or before the last date of application submission, i.e., 31 March 2026.
Maximum Age / Degree Validity
No upper age limit is specified. However, candidates must not have passed their degree/diploma more than 5 years before the date of joining. Date of Passing should not be earlier than 1st April 2021 as per the application portal.
Key Rule: Degree/Diploma must not have been passed more than 5 years prior to the date of joining as apprentice.
Educational Qualification
For Graduate Apprenticeship
Must hold a 4-year or 3-year degree in relevant Engineering/General stream from a Government-recognized institution.
Graduate Engineers with Diploma (3 years after Class 10 or 2 years after Class 12) are eligible only via lateral entry into 2nd year.
Only Full-Time (Regular) mode of education is accepted distance/correspondence not allowed.
Candidates pursuing or who have completed Postgraduate qualification are NOT eligible.
For Technician Apprenticeship
Must hold a 3-year Diploma in relevant Engineering branch (34 years after Class 10).
Lateral entry into 2nd year of Diploma (for 10+2 pass candidates) permitted per AICTE norms. One-year Diploma is NOT allowed.
Other Mandatory Conditions
NATS 2.0 Registration on nats.education.gov.in is mandatory before applying.
Should not have undergone apprenticeship training in any other institution earlier.
Should not have completed 1 year or more of employment/service at any establishment.
Must have completed 18 years of age on 31 March 2026.
Disqualified if: Previously undergone apprenticeship anywhere, completed 1+ year of employment, or pursuing/completed PG courses.
Application Fee
No Application Fee for Any Category!
The SECL notification does not mention any application fee. Candidates from General, OBC, SC, and ST categories can apply completely free of cost.
Beware of third-party websites or agents asking for fees in the name of SECL applications. Apply only at apprenticeship.secl-cil.in.
Stipend / Salary Details
Stipend as per Rule 11(2) of the Apprenticeships Act 1992 paid jointly by SECL (50%) and the Government (50% via DBT):

DBT Payment: Government's 50% share will be paid through Direct Beneficiary Transfer into your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. No TA/DA, accommodation, or housing facility is provided.
Selection Process
No written test or interview is conducted. Selection is purely merit-based on the following criteria:
1Date of Passing Earlier passed candidates ranked higher. This is the primary criterion.
2Percentage of Marks in Degree/Diploma (1st tie-breaker for same passing date).
312th / 10th Marks HSC % for degree holders; SSC % for diploma holders (2nd tie-breaker).
4Date of Birth Older candidates preferred (3rd / final tie-breaker).
Two-Level Seniority List
Level-1: Candidates from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh get first priority.
Level-2: Candidates from all other states under BOAT Western Region considered after Level-1 exhausted.
Important: If result date is missing from mark sheet, a certificate from the Principal of your Polytechnic/College mentioning the publication date must be submitted at document verification.

Complete Registration Form
Fill: Full Name (must match NATS + Degree + Aadhaar), Father's Name, Application Type, Field of Specialisation, Gender, Community, State, DOB, Aadhaar No., Mobile, Email, Password & CAPTCHA. A Registration Number will be generated.

Login & Fill Part I Basic Info (Address)
Enter Communication and Permanent Address (AT, PO, City, District, Pincode, State). All fields mandatory. Click Save → Next.

Fill Part II Educational Details & Upload Docs
Date of Passing (not before 1 Apr 2021), Institution, Roll No., %, NATS ID & Date. Upload: SSC Certificate, Degree/Diploma Certificate, NATS Document (all PDF <1MB each).

Photo & Signature: JPG/PNG, 200×230 px, <500KB each. Aadhaar Card: PDF <1MB.

Enter Aadhaar-linked DBT-enabled account: Bank Name, Branch, A/C No. (same as in NATS), IFSC Code, Account Holder Name. Upload Passbook first page (PDF <1MB).

Mining / Mine Surveying Apprentices: Posted only in underground mines of SECL.
Other Engineering Apprentices (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, E&T): Opencast mines, U/G mines, workshops and establishments of SECL.
General Stream Graduates (BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc.): Offices and establishments in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh.
Note: Candidates cannot request a change of posting location or mine. You must be willing to train at any SECL facility where you are posted.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is there any application fee for SECL Apprentice 2026?
No. There is absolutely no application fee for any category (General/OBC/SC/ST). The entire process is free. Beware of fraudulent websites asking for money.
Is NATS 2.0 registration mandatory before applying?
Yes, it is mandatory. Register at nats.education.gov.in before filling the SECL application. SECL has no role in NATS registration contact BOAT Western Region for NATS issues.
Will I get a permanent job at SECL after the apprenticeship?
No. Apprenticeship training does not lead to employment at SECL. No apprentice will be absorbed as employee. The contract automatically terminates after one year.
Can candidates from states other than CG/MP apply?
Yes. Candidates from other states under BOAT Western Region can apply and are placed in the Level-2 seniority list. They get opportunities only after Level-1 (CG & MP) candidates are placed.
Is there a written exam or interview?
No written exam or interview. Selection is purely merit-based: Date of Passing → Marks % → 12th/10th % → Date of Birth as tie-breakers.
What is the OBC certificate date requirement?
OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be dated on or after 01 April 2025. Older certificates will not be accepted.
Can Distance/Correspondence degree holders apply?
No. Only Regular (Full-Time) mode of education is accepted. Distance, open, or correspondence is not eligible.
Is TA/DA or accommodation provided during training?
No TA/DA for document verification, medical examination, or training attendance. No accommodation or housing facility is provided to apprentices.
What if there is a name mismatch in certificates?
Name and DOB must match across all documents (High School, Degree, Aadhaar, NATS portal). If there is any discrepancy, submit a Notarized Affidavit explaining the variation at document verification.
