🎓 IOCL Apprentice Eligibility — Educational Qualification

Trade Apprentices (Disc. Codes 107–111)

Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) with a regular full-time 2-year ITI in the relevant trade (Fitter / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist) recognized by NCVT or SCVT.

Technician Apprentices (Disc. Codes 101–106)

Candidates must hold a 3-year regular full-time Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognized Institute/University, with:

  • Minimum 50% marks for General / EWS / OBC-NCL candidates
  • Minimum 45% marks for SC / ST / PwBD candidates (for reserved positions)

Graduate Apprentice (Disc. Code 112)

Candidates must be a regular full-time Graduate (BA / B.Com / B.Sc / BBA or any discipline) from a recognized University, with:

  • Minimum 50% marks for General / EWS / OBC-NCL candidates
  • Minimum 45% marks for SC / ST / PwBD candidates

Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Disc. Code 113)

Candidates must have passed Class 12th (but below Graduate level) from a recognized Board, with:

  • Minimum 50% marks for General / EWS / OBC-NCL candidates

Step-by-Step Selection Methodology:

  1. Online Registration — Candidates register on the NAPS or NATS portal and apply against the notification.

♿ PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) — Special Information

  • Reservation for PwBD is applied on a horizontal basis across all categories.
  • Eligible PwBD categories: Low Vision (VH), Hard of Hearing / Deaf (HH), Orthopedic Handicap (OH – One Arm/One Leg), Dwarfism, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Acid Attack Victim, Multiple Disabilities (MD).
  • A Disability Certificate from a competent authority (as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017) of 40% or above is mandatory.

🔄 Apprenticeship Rules & Restrictions

  • A candidate may undergo a maximum of two apprenticeship trainings, and the second training cannot be in the same trade.
  • A minimum 1-year gap is required between two apprenticeships (provided the first is completed).
  • If the previous contract was terminated due to employer's failure, no gap is required.
  • If terminated due to health/financial hardship/relocation/career change/language barrier, a 3-month waiting period applies (no waiting period for women).
  • If terminated due to the apprentice's fault, they are not entitled to another apprenticeship.

🔍 OBC-NCL Important Clarification

  • OBC (NCL) candidates must submit a caste certificate not older than 12 months from 28.02.2026.
  • The certificate must specifically state that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer.
  • IOCL, being a Central PSU, only recognises communities in the Central Government's approved OBC-NCL list.
  • OBC candidates from the creamy layer may apply as UR (Unreserved) candidates if they meet the UR age criteria.
