Supreme Court Law Clerk Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this assignment, candidates must meet the following requirements:Age Limit
Minimum Age: 20 years as of February 7, 2026.Maximum Age: 32 years as of February 7, 2026.
Educational Qualifications
Degree: Must be a Law Graduate (including Integrated Degree Course) from a recognized School/College/University established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India.Final Year Students: Candidates in their fifth year of a five-year course or third year of a three-year course are eligible to apply, provided they furnish proof of acquiring the qualification before starting the assignment.
Skills: Candidates must possess research and analytical skills, strong writing abilities, and computer proficiency, specifically in using legal search engines like e-SCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, and Westlaw.
Supreme Court Law Clerk Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process
The selection process is rigorous and conducted in three distinct phases:Part I: Multiple Choice Based Questions
Tests the candidate’s ability to understand/apply the law and comprehension skills.
Includes negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
Minimum qualifying marks are 60%.
Part II: Subjective Written Test
Focuses on writing and analytical skills.
Conducted on the same day as Part I.
Evaluation is limited to a 1:10 ratio (10 candidates per vacancy) based on Part I merit.
Part III: Interview
Candidates qualifying both written tests are called in a 1:3 ratio against the number of vacancies.
Test Centers
The written tests will be held in 23 cities across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam, among others.
